Data engineer Frances Haugen became increasingly alarmed by what she saw when she worked at Facebook. At great personal risk, she decided to blow the whistle. In 2021 she disclosed tens of thousands of Facebook’s internal documents to the media and US authorities. At the 2022 SKUP conference, Haugen will explain why she decided to take on one of the world’s most powerful companies and how tech giants should be held accountable for their decisions. In a fireside chat she will go into detail on whistleblower protection and her experience as a vulnerable source for Wall Street Journal. She will also share her thoughts on how investigative journalists could cover these issues and overcome the secrecy that revolves around companies like Facebook. The attendees will have the opportunity to ask Haugen questions on-stage.
